How to make masoor dal

Masoor dal is a nutritious and delicious lentil that is packed with lots of nutrition. This pulse is usually grown in hot regions and is considered a staple food in hungry countries along with vegetables or rice. This dal can be prepared in a variety of ways, but for a general recipe, follow the following steps:


1 cup masoor dal

3 cups water

1 large onion, chopped

1 medium tomato, chopped

1 tsp ginger garlic paste

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp garam masala

salt as per taste

2 tbsp oil


Washing lentils:

Wash the lentils thoroughly in water 2-3 times.


Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion until golden.

Tasty Spices:

Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry.

Add tomatoes and fry them well, so that they become soft.

Contracted Spices:

Add all the spices (turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala) and mix well.

Add masoor dal:

Add masoor dal and mix well.


Add water and let the dal boil.

Boiling and cooking:

After boiling, keep it in the sim and cook the dal slowly, so that it melts well.

Salt and flavor:

Add salt and mix.


Hot masoor dal is ready! Serve it with rice or roti.
